A near-future Los Angeles. The skyline is recognizable but
weathered. Digital billboards flicker with political
propaganda. One shows a map of the United States with clear
divisions between state alliances highlighted in different
colors.
SUPER: "LOS ANGELES - 2038"
Graffiti decorates the sides of buildings, marking gang
territory. Street lights flicker, and a police drone hovers
overhead, its searchlight scanning the streets.
LENNY WILLIAMS (19, Black, lean, alert eyes that miss
nothing) moves with practiced stealth through the shadows. He
wears a blue bandana around his neck and a worn leather
jacket with "WESTSIDE ROYALS" emblazoned across the back.
Four other YOUNG MEN, similar age and dress, follow him. They
all carry handguns tucked into their waistbands.
DARIUS (20, Lenny's right-hand man) catches up to him.
DARIUS
(whispering)
You sure about this, L? Crossing
into Sevens territory is straight
suicide.
LENNY
They took our shipment. We let that
slide, we might as well hand over
the whole neighborhood.
DARIUS
If anything happens, I ain’t
callin’ your grandma.
Lenny gives him a hard look. Darius backs off.
LENNY
(to the group)
Remember, we get the supplies and
bounce. No unnecessary noise.
Everyone nods.
EXT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - NIGHT
The group approaches a dilapidated warehouse. Graffiti with
the number "7" covers the walls. SEVENS GANG MEMBERS (5 of
them, various ages) unload crates from a truck.
Lenny presses his finger to his lips, then gestures to his
crew to spread out and get in position. His eyes narrow as he
spots what they came for: crates marked "EMERGENCY RATIONS -
PROPERTY OF CALIFORNIA DEFENSE FORCE."
Lenny whispers to the gang member closest to him.
LENNY
Spread the word. Three minutes. In
and out.
He then moves forward, staying in the shadows. His crew
follows.
INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - NIGHT
The Sevens record the supplies. Cases of water, medical
supplies, and food rations are stacked against the wall.
SEVENS LEADER (30s, hardened face with a "7" tattooed on his
neck) supervises.
SEVENS LEADER
Get those meds sorted first. We can
trade those for twice what we paid.
Lenny and his crew slip in through a side entrance, moving
silently among the shadows.
He draws his weapon. His crew does the same.
LENNY
Nobody move. They’re our supplies,
and we're taking them back.
The Sevens freeze, but their leader sneers.
SEVENS LEADER
You're dead, Williams.
Darius and another Royal start gathering the supplies.
SEVENS MEMBER
(pulling a gun)
Hell with this.
Explosive cracks fill the air as GUNFIRE ERUPTS. The sound of
metal bounce off concrete walls and floors echoes in the
hollow chamber.
Chaos. Lenny ducks behind a pillar as bullets ricochet around
him. His crew returns fire. One of the Royals goes down, shot
in the leg.
Lenny fires twice, hitting one of the Sevens in the shoulder.
DARIUS
We gotta go.
The gunfire has triggered an alarm. In the distance, POLICE
SIRENS wail.
LENNY
Cover me.
Lenny grabs a box of medical supplies and races back toward
the exit.

The gangs scatter. Sevens run one way, Royals another.
EXT. WAREHOUSE - BACK ALLEY - NIGHT
Lenny and Darius burst out the back door, still clutching the
box of supplies. They run down the alley, but when they
approach the end, police vehicles block the exit.
DARIUS
Other way.
They spin around, but the other end of the alley is also

Darius tosses his gun and tries to scale a fence, but POLICE

Lenny runs, still holding the medical supplies. A police

POLICE OFFICER (O.S.)

Lennard Williams. Breaking and

property, illegal possession of a
firearm, participation in gang
activity.
Judge Martinez lifts his head and assesses Lenny.
JUDGE MARTINEZ (CONT’D)
It’s your third offense, young man.
The PUBLIC DEFENDER (overworked, harried) stands.
PUBLIC DEFENDER
Your Honor, my client was simply
trying to recover medical supplies
desperately needed in his
community. The current resource
allocation system —
JUDGE MARTINEZ
Save it. I've got twenty more cases
after this one.
The judge reviews a tablet, scrolling through Lenny's record.
JUDGE MARTINEZ (CONT’D)
I see your grandfather is a Vietnam
veteran. Your mother works two
jobs. Grandmother raising you. Not
an uncommon story these days. Do
you have anything to say?
Lenny stands, faces the judge and shakes his head.
JUDGE MARTINEZ (CONT’D)
I'm giving you a choice, Mr.
Williams. Ten years in state
prison, or military service in the
Western Alliance forces. Minimum
term of four years.
Lenny looks surprised.
LENNY
Military?
JUDGE MARTINEZ
The Defense Rehabilitation Program.
It's new. The Alliance needs
soldiers, and our prisons are
overcrowded. Given your ... skills,
they'd probably welcome you.
PUBLIC DEFENDER
(quietly to Lenny)
Take the military option. Trust me.
LENNY
And if I complete service?
JUDGE MARTINEZ
Clean record. GI benefits. Fresh

Lenny hesitates, then looks at the judge, smiling.
LENNY
I'll take the military.

A Family Divided
INT. WILLIAMS HOUSEHOLD - LIVING ROOM - EVENING
A modest ranch home in South LA, maintained with pride
despite its age. Family photos dot the walls and sit on the
tables. News about the growing national division plays softly
on a television.
DOROTHY WILLIAMS (70s, Lenny's grandmother, dignified, strong-
willed) sits in an armchair, looking at Lenny with narrowed
eyes and lips squeezed tightly.
WALTER WILLIAMS (70s, Lenny's grandfather, Vietnam veteran,
still physically imposing despite his age) stands by the
window, watching the street outside.
Lenny sits on the couch, still wearing his court-issued
clothes. A MONITORING BRACELET blinks on his ankle.
DOROTHY
The military? Lord, Lenny. Your
grandfather nearly didn't come back
from Afghanistan. Now they're
sending you to fight other
Americans?
LENNY
It was that or prison, Grandma.
WALTER
(still looking out the
window)
He made the right choice, Dorothy.
DOROTHY
You saying that 'cause you were a
soldier?
WALTER
I'm saying it 'cause I know what
prison does to young men. He’ll get
a chance with the army.
Walter turns, walks to Lenny.
WALTER (CONT’D)
But you listen to me, boy. The army
ain't the streets. Your gang won't
mean a damn thing there. You
survive by following orders and
watching your brothers' backs.
LENNY
They're not my brothers.
WALTER
They will be. Or you'll die.
Walter picks up a photo from the table and hands it to Lenny.
It shows him with TWO WHITE SOLDIERS and a LATINO.
WALTER (CONT’D)
And it don’t matter if they’re
white, green, or blue. They’re
brothers.
The front door opens. MICHELLE WILLIAMS (37, Lenny's mother,
worry lines on face, bags under eyes) enters, still wearing
scrubs from work. She freezes when she sees Lenny.
MICHELLE
They let you come home?
LENNY
Just to say goodbye. I leave
tomorrow.
Michelle closes her eyes, composing herself. Then she crosses
the room and embraces him. Tears forming in her eyes.
MICHELLE
(whispers)
I should have been here more.
LENNY
It's not your fault, Mom.
Michelle pulls back and looks at her son's face.
MICHELLE
What did the judge decide?
DOROTHY
Military service. The Western
Alliance.
Michelle's face shows fear.
MICHELLE
They're saying it could be full war
by summer. I’ll pray they let you
stay near home, a defensive role.
Walter shakes his head.
WALTER
It already is war. And there is no
way they’ll keep him here. He’ll be
sent to the front.
Lenny stands up and heads to his room.
LENNY

INT. INDUCTION CENTER - BARRACKS - NIGHT
Rows of bunks line the walls in a long, sterile room. Lenny
sits on his assigned bed, now in military fatigues with a

SERGEANT MILLER (40s, Black, career military, tough but fair)
walks down the center of the room, eyeing each of the new
recruits.
SERGEANT MILLER
Welcome to the Western Alliance

(a beat)
You are soldiers — or soon will be

He stops, scanning each of their faces.
SERGEANT MILLER (CONT’D)
Some of you are here by choice.
Others by court mandate. I don't

Miller stops in front of Lenny.

From another bunk, ELENA ELENA (25, tough, guarded, medic
armband) calls over.
ELENA
They feed you better here, but they
also shoot at you. Trade-offs.
A few nervous laughs from around the room.
ELENA (CONT’D)
I'm Elena. Was an EMT before all
this. Figure that'll be useful.
MARCUS
Tech support. Not sure how helpful
that'll be.
LENNY
(dry)
Gang member. Pretty sure that'll be

This gets a genuine laugh from several recruits. The tension
breaks slightly as more of them introduce themselves.
As the lights dim for the night, Lenny lies back on his bunk,
staring at the ceiling.
In the dark, he takes out the family photo he brought,
looking at it briefly before tucking it under his pillow.

righteousness of the Western Alliance cause.
- Lenny, Marcus, and Elena sitting together in the mess hall,
a tentative friendship forming.
MARCUS

Lenny tenses.
LENNY
That's behind me now.
SERGEANT MILLER

Lenny says nothing.
SERGEANT MILLER (CONT’D)
The point is, the skills you

A Burden of Honor
EXT. MILITARY HOSPITAL - WESTERN ARIZONA - DAY
Ambulances pull up to a large field hospital complex, unload

INT. MILITARY HOSPITAL - RECOVERY WARD - DAY
Lenny, his arm in a sling, sits on the edge of a bed as a
DOCTOR checks his wounds.
DOCTOR
You're healing well. Another few
days, maybe a week, and you'll be
cleared for duty.
Lenny nods. The ward is filled with wounded soldiers, most
far worse off than him.
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS enters, moving directly to Lenny's bed.
Lenny sits up and attempts a salute, but fails.
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS
Williams. Good to see you up.
LENNY
Thank you, sir.
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS
Your actions saved sixteen lives.
The ridge defense gave our air
support time to arrive and push
back the Central forces.
Lenny says nothing.
LENNY
But Sergeant Miller, sir.
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS
Sergeant Miller always said you had
potential.
(hands Lenny a box)
These are yours now.
Lenny opens the box to find CORPORAL STRIPES.
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS (CONT’D)
It's a field promotion, a
battlefield commission. You've
earned it.
Lenny stares at the stripes, conflicted.
LENNY
What about the rest of my unit?
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS
Being reassigned. Once you're
cleared for duty, you'll get
command of a squad. We're

INT. FORWARD OPERATING BASE - NORTHERN ARIZONA - DAY - THREE
MONTHS LATER
A bustling military is base carved into the desert landscape,
hidden from prying eyes. Signs of prolonged conflict are
everywhere - fortified positions, battle-damaged equipment
under repair and a host of weary soldiers.
Lenny, now CORPORAL WILLIAMS with experience etched on his
face, leads a patrol briefing. His squad of EIGHT SOLDIERS
gathers around a holographic map display.
LENNY
Central forces have pulled back
from these positions, but intel
suggests they're regrouping here,
near this valley.
One of his soldiers, JENKINS (white, early 20s, openly
resentful), mutters to another.
JENKINS
(under breath)
Taking orders from a gang-banger.
What a joke.
Lenny stares, but doesn't react.
LENNY
Our job is to scout their positions
and report back. No engagement
unless absolutely necessary.
He looks at each soldier, making sure they understand.
LENNY (CONT’D)
We move out in ten minutes. Check
your gear.
As the soldiers disperse, LIEUTENANT HAYES (30s, by-the-book
officer) approaches.
LT. HAYES
Corporal. A word.
Lenny steps aside with him.
LT. HAYES (CONT’D)
I understand this is your fifth
patrol this month.
LENNY
Yes, sir.
LT. HAYES
You're pushing yourself too hard —
and your men.
LENNY
We need the intel, sir.
LT. HAYES
(studying Lenny)
Is this about the intel or Sergeant
Miller.
Lenny's expression hardens.
LT. HAYES (CONT’D)
You're a good soldier, Williams.
But revenge won't bring him back.
LENNY
This isn't about revenge, sir. It's
about doing the job.
Hayes nods.

EXT. DESERT CANYON - DAY
Lenny's patrol moves cautiously through a narrow canyon. The
soldiers are spread out and alert, weapons ready. The sun
beats down mercilessly. One of the men takes his helmet off
to wipe sweat from his head.
LENNY
Glares at the soldier. Put that
helmet back on, soldier.
After he puts his helmet on, Lenny signals a halt, checking
his position on a digital map. He motions for ELENA (female,
spotter) to check the ridge above them.
Rodriguez uses high-powered binoculars to scan the area.
ELENA
(quiet)
Movement, two o'clock. Enemy
patrol, about half a mile out.
Lenny takes the binoculars, confirms the sighting.
LENNY
(to his squad)
We hold position and let them pass.
The squad finds cover among the rocks, going still. Waiting.
Time passes. Tension builds.
Suddenly, the SOUND OF ENGINES approaches. Not the enemy
patrol they spotted, but something else, coming from behind
them.
Lenny signals the squad to maintain cover. Around the bend
comes an ENEMY SUPPLY CONVOY - three armored vehicles with
Central Coalition markings.
The convoy stops not fifty yards from their position. ENEMY
SOLDIERS exit the vehicles, setting up a temporary rest
point.
Lenny watches intently.
LENNY (CONT’D)
(whispering to Rodriguez)
This is valuable intelligence. We
need to know what they’re
transporting, and where?
Rodriguez nods.
ELENA
I can check that out.
Just then, Private Jenkins shifts position, dislodging a
small rock that clatters down the slope.
An ENEMY SOLDIER looks up, alert.
ENEMY SOLDIER
(calling to others)
Check the ridge.
LENNY
(whispers)
Hold positions. Do not engage.
Jenkins panics and raises his rifle.
Before Lenny can stop him, he fires.
Chaos erupts as the enemy soldiers return fire. Lenny's squad
is forced to engage.
LENNY (CONT’D)
(shouting)
Covering fire. Fall back to
position Bravo.
His squad begins a fighting retreat, moving from cover to
cover.
An EXPLOSION rocks the canyon as one of the enemy vehicles
fires a mounted weapon. Rocks and debris rain down.
In the confusion, Lenny sees Lt. Hayes caught in the open,
taking fire.
Without hesitation, Lenny breaks cover, racing to Hayes'
position. He drags the wounded officer behind a boulder as
bullets dig into the ground, and bounce off rocks around
them.
LENNY (CONT’D)

Hayes is badly wounded, bleeding heavily.
HAYES

Get the men out.
LENNY
We're all getting out.
The firefight intensifies. Lenny sees one of his soldiers
fall, hit by enemy fire.
LENNY (CONT’D)
(to his squad over radio)
Rodriguez, Jackson - provide
covering fire. Mason, get the medic
here now.
Enemy fire intensifies. Lenny drags Hayes behind a burned-out
vehicle.
HAYES
(coughing blood)
The intel about the weapon is on my
tablet.
Hayes passes Lenny a military tablet.
HAYES (CONT’D)
Special Command thinks it's in
Dovanna. High priority.
LENNY
Sir, stay with me. Medic's coming.
HAYES
(weakly)
Lieutenant Williams ... has a nice
ring to it.
Hayes's eyes go vacant. Lenny checks for a pulse, finding
none. He takes Hayes's insignia and the tablet.
ELENA (O.S.)
(over radio)
Sir, enemy reinforcements
approaching from the south.
Lenny looks at Hayes's body, then at the tablet. He clenches
his jaw, squares his shoulders, and takes a long steady
breath before speaking.
LENNY
(into radio)

CAPTAIN REYNOLDS
He did more than that. He recovered
critical intelligence.
Reynolds studies Lenny with newfound respect.
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS (CONT’D)

Mission Briefing: The Red Mamba Threat
INT. SECURE BRIEFING ROOM - LATER THAT NIGHT
Lenny sits at a table with Captain Reynolds and Major Wilson.
Screens show satellite images of a small town and a research
facility.
MAJOR WILSON
What I'm about to tell you is
classified at the highest level.
Major Wilson activates a holographic display showing
molecular structures.
MAJOR WILSON (CONT’D)
For the past three years, the
Central Coalition has been
developing a biological weapon
codenamed "Red Mamba." It's
designed to target specific genetic
markers in a population.
LENNY
(frowning)
Target how?
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS
It’s a virus programmed to only
affect people with certain genetic
traits — like specific ethnic
backgrounds.
Lenny raises his eyebrows.
LENNY
They’d kill their own people?
Major Wilson points to areas on the map, mostly large cities:
LA, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and NYC.
MAJOR WILSON
Six of the biggest cities of the
Alliance. They have a total
population of almost 20 million,
and 13 million are either Black,
Latino, or Asian. This weapon can
target those markers.
LENNY
Wouldn’t that affect their own
cities?
Major Wilson shakes his head.
MAJOR WILSON
The virus spreads quickly and kills
quickly, but it also dies off
quickly. Since there is effectively
no contact between the peoples of
the Alliance and the Coalition,
they could spread the virus in
these cities, let it do the
killing, then let it die off.
(sighs)
We’d lose about 13 million people.
LENNY
(disgusted)
That's genocide.
MAJOR WILSON
Precisely. And according to our
intelligence, they've completed
development and are preparing for
deployment in Alliance territories.
Captain Reynolds opens a folder and reads.
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS
The lead scientist is, or was, Dr.
James Carter who is based in
Dovanna. Two days ago, the town
went dark — no communications, no
movement. Then yesterday our
surveillance detected a massive
explosion in the area.
Major Wilson pulls up thermal satellite images showing a
blast zone.
MAJOR WILSON
Since then, both sides have been
bombing the area.
MAJOR WILSON (CONT’D)
They want to destroy evidence, or
secure it for use. We want to
destroy it, and kill Carter.
LENNY
I don’t understand. If they want to
use this weapon, why destroy it?
MAJOR WILSON
If they can’t get it, and proof of
its existence gets out, the World
Commission would unite against them
and take action.
(a beat)
But they could use it, and when it
has done the job, deny they had
anything to do with it.
LENNY
So both sides have been bombing
civilians in Dovanna?
A moment of uncomfortable silence.
CAPTAIN REYNOLDS
Acceptable losses according to High
Command.
Lenny shows his disgust but remains professional.
MAJOR WILSON
Your mission is to infiltrate
what's left of Dovanna, locate Dr.
Carter or his research, and extract
both if possible.
LENNY
And if he’s dead?
MAJOR WILSON
The research is the most important.
Secure it at all costs.
Lenny studies the satellite images, then looks up.
LENNY
I'll need to pick my own team.
Captain Reynolds steps forward.

A Desperate Promise
INT. BASEMENT SHELTER - DAY
He descends the stairs alone. As his eyes adjust to the dim
light, it reveals Millie clutching the keychain.
LENNY
(kneeling)
I’m here to help. Are you hurt?
MILLIE
Go away. We can take care of
ourselves.
LENNY
What’s your name? Mine’s Lenny.
(a beat)
And you said we? Who’s with you?
The girl hesitates, but then looks to the side.
Lenny follows her gaze and sees a small boy hiding in the
rubble. Beside him is a dog, snarling ferociously.
MILLIE
Bullet will bite if you get closer.
Lenny does his best to appear frightened.
LENNY
I’m sure he will, but if you come
with me, we’ll fix you up.
He points to the side.
LENNY (CONT’D)
Him too. Is that your brother?
She nods.
MILLIE
That’s Tommy. I’m Millie.
Lenny sees blood on Tommy’s face and hands.
LENNY
Is your brother hurt?
Millie shakes her head.
LENNY (CONT’D)
What’s the blood from?
Millie hesitates, then cries.
MILLIE
My mom.
LENNY
You’ve done a good job of looking
after your brother. Your mom and
dad would be proud.
MILLIE
My dad’s probably dead, like my mom
— like everyone!
Tommy runs to Millie and slaps at her.
TOMMY
Daddy’s not dead. Don’t say that!
Lenny notices Millie clutching something around her neck.
LENNY
What have you got there?
MILLIE
It's what Daddy gave us, and it’s
none of your business.
LENNY
(reaching for it)
Can I see it?
Millie pulls back, clutching it tighter.
MILLIE
No!
Lenny pauses, then pulls out a chocolate bar and hands it to
her.
LENNY
You can have this. Even steven.
Millie looks at the chocolate bar, then over to Tommy, back
to hiding in the rubble. Her stomach growls. Finally, she
nods, pulls the device out, and hands it to Lenny.
He hands her the chocolate bar.
LENNY (CONT’D)
You’re gonna like that. It’s my
favorite.
Millie fumbles to peel back the wrapper, her hands shaking as
she does. She manages to unfold enough to grab a piece of
chocolate. Her eyes go wide as she breaks a piece off.
She looks at it, almost takes a bite, but then hands it to
Tommy. Tommy grabs it and bites into it.
Millie breaks off another piece and eats it herself, then
smiles at Lenny.
MILLIE
It’s good.
LENNY
I told you. It’s my favorite.
Lenny examines the keychain device closely, noticing a small
blinking light he hadn't seen when she handed it to him.
LENNY (CONT’D)
Shit! They've been tracking you.
Lenny shouts up the stairs.
LENNY (CONT’D)
Marcus, Elena. Get down here.
Marcus (tech sergeant chen) rushes in, gun drawn.
MARCUS
You okay, sir?
LENNY
I'm fine.
The keychain blinks furiously. Lenny hands it to Marcus.
LENNY (CONT’D)
Can you disable this?
Marcus examines the device. Looks like some kind of advanced
flash drive.
MARCUS
I'll try, but probably not
without losing what’s on it.
LENNY
Just get the tracking disabled.
Elena walks through the doorway.
ELENA
What’s up, LT.
Lenny gestures to Tommy, sweat covering his forehead.
ELENA (CONT’D)
(moving to Tommy)
He's got a high fever.
LENNY
(to Elena)
Take the kids out the back. There's
a trail leading into the forest.
ELENA
And go where?
LENNY
We're supposed to have someone here
by nightfall. Head east and keep
moving. I'll catch up.
(a beat)
And get them some food and water.
And medical care.
ELENA
Will do, sir.
Elena looks at him questioningly.
ELENA (CONT’D)
Did you say go east?
LENNY
We're supposed to meet the Eastern
Alliance not far from here.
ELENA
Aren't you coming? You can't hold
them off alone.
LENNY
I don’t intend to. I’m just double
checking for anything we missed.
The radio alerts Lenny to Colonel Marsen’s call.
COLONEL MARSEN (O.S.)
Lieutenant Williams, we know you
have the children. Surrender them
and the data. No one will get hurt.
Lenny looks at Millie and Tommy, just leaving with Elena. He
sets the radio down and goes to them.
LENNY
You need to go with Elena now. I'll
find you soon.
TOMMY
(scared)
Promise?
FLASH IMAGE:
Walter hands young Lenny a military coin.
WALTER (V.O.)
A soldier’s promise is sacred, boy.
END FLASH IMAGE
Lenny kisses Tommy on the forehead.
LENNY
I promise.
Millie hugs Lenny, then takes Tommy's hand.
MILLIE
Don’t worry. Bullet will help us.
LENNY
Bullet's a good boy. What kind of
dog is he?
TOMMY
He's a blue lacy. Best dog ever.
LENNY
I bet he is.
Lenny points to the exit.
LENNY (CONT’D)
Go, boy. Protect them.
The dog follows Elena and the children toward the back exit.
MARCUS
What's the plan?
LENNY
We need something to make them
think we all went in a different
direction.

Race Against Time
INT. BASEMENT SHELTER - MOMENTS LATER
Marcus removes the tracking device from its housing and
examines it closely.
MARCUS
This is military-grade. Not Central
Coalition tech either.
LENNY
What do you mean?
MARCUS
I've seen this before during
training. It's Alliance technology.
Lenny stares at Marcus, processing this revelation.
LENNY
You're saying our people made this?
MARCUS
Not just made it. This tracking
device is built into a secure
encryption key. It's a package
deal.
LENNY
Can you crack it?
MARCUS
I need time. Hours, maybe days. But
I can disable the tracker.
Marcus pulls out a small tool kit from his bag and gets to
work.
LENNY
What about the data? We might need
it.
MARCUS
I'll try to preserve it, but no
guarantees.
He carefully works on the device while Lenny paces.
LENNY
We don't have much time.
MARCUS
Almost got it.
Marcus disconnects a tiny component. The blinking light
stops.
MARCUS (CONT’D)

still be intact.

How do we know they won't just bomb

LENNY (CONT’D)
They won't risk destroying it now
that they know we have it.
MARCUS
I've been thinking. The tracking

(hesitant)
This doesn't make sense if Central
developed the weapon. It's like
both sides knew exactly what they
were looking for.
LENNY
(grimly)
Maybe they did.
They reach a small clearing at the edge of town and hear
distant SOUNDS OF VEHICLES approaching.
LENNY (CONT’D)
Remember the plan. Create a

think we're taking the kids deeper
into Central territory.
RAMIREZ
While you go east with the real
package.
LENNY
Exactly. Regroup at the secondary

She kneels, offering Tommy a piggyback ride. He climbs on
wearily. Millie walks beside them, Bullet trotting ahead and
occasionally returning to check on them.
MILLIE
Is your friend coming soon?
ELENA
He'll find us.
MILLIE
Is he nice, like Lenny?
ELENA
(smiling)
Just as nice, but a lot more
stubborn.
Tommy rests his head on Elena's shoulder, eyes half-closed.
ELENA (CONT’D)
We need to find shelter soon. Your
brother needs rest.
Bullet suddenly stops, ears perked. He GROWLS softly and
faces back the way they came.
ELENA (CONT’D)
(whispering)
Get down.
They crouch behind thick undergrowth. Bullet stays
protectively in front of the children.
SOUNDS OF SOLDIERS moving through the forest. Alliance
troops, searching.
ALLIANCE SOLDIER (O.S.)
Spread out. The tracker signal went
dead not far from here.
ALLIANCE SOLDIER ONE
It was miles west. I don’t know why

ALLIANCE SOLDIER
They could have traveled this far.

In the Shadows of Urgency
EXT. ANOTHER PART OF THE FOREST - NIGHT
Lenny moves silently through the trees, using his training
and street skills to remain undetected. He occasionally
checks a small GPS device.
A twig SNAPS behind him. He spins, weapon ready.
Dr. James Carter steps from the shadows, hands raised. He
looks exhausted, clothes torn and dirty and scratches on his
face and neck.
DR. CARTER
Lieutenant Williams, I presume?
LENNY
(surprised)
How did you know?
DR. CARTER
I’m James Carter — the one Alliance
and Central both want dead.
LENNY
How do you know my name?
DR. CARTER
I've been following your unit since
you entered town.
(pause)
You have my children?
LENNY
They're moving east with my medic.
DR. CARTER
And my device?
LENNY
We disabled the tracker.
Dr. Carter visibly relaxes.
DR. CARTER
Thank God. Then there's still time.
LENNY
Time for what?
DR. CARTER
To stop both sides from unleashing
hell.
LENNY
You mean Red Mamba?
Dr. Carter's eyes narrow at the mention.
DR. CARTER
So they told you about the weapon.
Did they tell you they developed it
together?
LENNY
What?
DR. CARTER
The truth, Lieutenant. Alliance and
Central Coalition scientists worked
on it together for years before the
war started. A joint defense
project, they called it. Once the
country fractured, both sides
wanted exclusive control.
LENNY
Why should I believe you?
DR. CARTER
The drive my daughter has contains
all the proof. Research logs,
funding trails, videos of joint
meetings.
(with disgust)
I was part of it, doing what I
thought was theoretical research.
When I realized what we'd created,
I tried to sabotage it.
LENNY
(skeptical)
If what you're saying is true, why
haven't they just deployed it
already?
DR. CARTER
They need the latest encryption key
to activate the delivery system.
That's what's on the drive. Without
it, the virus remains inert.
A distant EXPLOSION startles them both.
LENNY
We need to move. Your children are
heading for the eastern extraction
point.
DR. CARTER
We can't go there. It's not safe.
LENNY
(impatient)
We don't have a choice. My team is
waiting.
DR. CARTER
Listen to me. Your commanders lied
to you. If either side gets that
drive, millions will die. We need
to get the evidence to someone who
can expose both sides.
Lenny studies the scientist, weighing his options.
LENNY
I know someone. A reporter in
Chicago. She’s a former embedded
war correspondent who documented
civilian casualties that were being
covered up. She'll help us.
DR. CARTER
Chicago? That's Eastern Alliance
territory. How can we possibly get
there?
LENNY
I know someone else too. Someone
with connections who can get us
across borders.
Dr. Carter waits for the explanation.
LENNY (CONT’D)
The gangster who raised me. He's
got people on all sides.
In the distance, more EXPLOSIONS and GUNFIRE.
DR. CARTER

LENNY
First, we get to them. Then we
figure out the rest.

ELENA
His fever's worse. I've given him
the antibiotics I had, but he needs
proper medical care.
MILLIE
Where's my dad?
ELENA
I don't know, sweetie.
MILLIE
Lenny said he would come.
ELENA
And he will.
VOICES outside. Elena grabs her weapon and moves to the

ELENA (CONT’D)
Stay down.
The door slowly opens. Bullet BARKS ferociously, standing
between the door and the children.
Lenny enters, hands raised. Behind him, Dr. Carter.
MILLIE
Daddy!
She rushes to him. He scoops her up in a tight embrace, tears
streaming down his face.
DR. CARTER
Oh my God, Millie.
MILLIE
We thought you were dead.
DR. CARTER
I'm here now.
He kneels beside Tommy and kisses his head.
DR. CARTER (CONT’D)

ELENA
Fever. Possible infection. He needs
antibiotics, and lots of fluids.
Dr. Carter places a hand on Tommy's forehead, his face
creased with worry.
LENNY
(to Elena)
Change of plans. We're not meeting
the extraction team.
ELENA
What? Why?
LENNY
(glancing at Dr. Carter)
He told me that both sides are
after that drive.
ELENA
So what's our move?
LENNY
I have a contact in Chicago who can
help expose what's really going on.
ELENA
Between here and Chicago, there are
multiple checkpoints, not to
mention we’d have to avoid a host
of patrols.
LENNY
The alternative is handing over a
weapon that could kill millions.
Elena looks at the children, then back to Lenny.
ELENA
I'm in.
DR. CARTER
(interrupting)
Tommy can't travel like this. He
needs medical help now.
Lenny nods in agreement.
LENNY
There's a Coalition medical camp
about ten miles north. It’s a small
facility with minimal security.
ELENA
You want to walk into enemy
territory?
LENNY
We have no choice.
DR. CARTER
I can't put him at risk again.
LENNY
They’re not looking for three
civilians and a dog. Elena will go
with them. Military medic
credentials don’t list sides. It
should get them treatment without
questions.
ELENA
And you?
LENNY
I'll make contact with my source
and set up safe passage to Chicago.
DR. CARTER
My children stay with me.
LENNY
Dr. Carter, your face is probably
on every military watchlist by now.
Your children have a better chance
without you.
Bullet whines softly.
MILLIE
(petting Bullet)
He's right, Daddy.
Dr. Carter looks down at his feverish son, torn.
DR. CARTER
All right. But can I get updates on
a secure channel?
Lenny nods to Marcus.
LENNY
Set them up.
As Marcus works, Lenny moves to the door, preparing to leave.
MILLIE
You're going already?
LENNY
I have to. But I'll see you again.
MILLIE
Promise?
LENNY
I promise.
As Lenny turns to leave, Bullet suddenly moves to his side,
pressing against his leg.
DR. CARTER
Bullet, stay.
The dog doesn't move from Lenny's side.
MILLIE
I think he wants to go with you.
LENNY
(surprised)
I can't take your dog.
DR. CARTER
Actually, it might be safer.
Bullet's smart. He'll warn you of
danger.
Lenny looks down at the dog, who stares back with intelligent
eyes.
LENNY
All right. Come on, boy.
Bullet BARKS once, as if in agreement.

Bullet trots alongside him, occasionally stopping to sniff

LENNY (CONT’D)

EXT. SMALL TOWN - MORNING
A neutral territory, mostly inhabited by civilians trying to
avoid the war. Signs of hardship are everywhere - rationing
notices, recruitment posters for both sides, militia

Lenny has changed into civilian clothes. He walks with
Bullet, keeping his head down. They pass a small cafe with a
"Communications Available" sign.
INT. COMMUNICATIONS CAFE - MORNING
A dingy room with several booths. Old phones and computer
terminals sit on tables. The PROPRIETOR (60s, weathered)
watches Lenny warily as he enters with Bullet.
LENNY
I need to make a secure call,
preferably in a private booth.
PROPRIETOR
Fifty dollars gets you ten minutes

Lenny glares.
LENNY
Thirty dollars. And the dog stays.
PROPRIETOR
(sighs)
Fine. Booth three.
Lenny enters a small booth with Bullet and closes the door.
He types on a terminal and connects to a secure line. After a

hardened by prison.
DARIUS
(surprised)
Lenny? Man, I haven't heard from

LENNY
I need help, D.
DARIUS
Last I heard you were some hotshot

That life's over. I need to get to
Chicago. And I need to stay off the
radar.
DARIUS
(whistling)
That's deep in Eastern territory.
What'd you do?
LENNY
Something that could save a lot of
lives, and every body wants it.
Darius studies Lenny's face.
DARIUS
This about your promise to your
grandma?
LENNY
Something like that.
DARIUS
(nods)
The Royals have connections in
Eastern territory. Smuggling routes
that are still active, but it'll
cost you.
LENNY
I don't have money.
DARIUS
Then what?
Lenny thinks for a moment.
LENNY
Information. Military intel on
supply routes and security
protocols. That’s worth a fortune
to the right people.
DARIUS
(considering)
That might work. When and where?
LENNY
I don’t know much of the area, but
I know there’s an abandoned gas
station off Highway 16. I can be
there tomorrow night.
DARIUS
I'll send someone. Password is
"royal flush."
LENNY
Thanks, D. I owe you.
DARIUS
More than you know. Your grandma
passed last year, Lenny. I tried to
get word to you.
Lenny freezes, the news hitting him hard.
LENNY
What?
DARIUS
Resource shortages hit the
neighborhood hard. She got real
sick. Your mom's still hanging on,
but it's rough.
Lenny closes his eyes, grief washing over him.
LENNY
I should've been there.
DARIUS
She understood, man. Said she was
proud of you till the end.
Lenny takes a deep breath, steadying himself.
LENNY
I'm making this right. I’ll do it
for her.
DARIUS
Be careful, brother.
The screen goes blank. Lenny sits in silence. Bullet nudges
his hand with his nose, offering comfort.
LENNY

Guess it's just you and me.
He scratches behind Bullet’s ears.

reach the rendezvous by nightfall
tomorrow.
DR. CARTER
If we're not intercepted.
MARCUS
(curious)
MARCUS (CONT’D)
If this weapon is so dangerous, why
did you help create it?
Dr. Carter stares ahead, haunted.
DR. CARTER
When we started, it was
theoretical. A defense project
studying genetic markers for
disease resistance. The goal was to
create targeted vaccines.
(bitter)
Then military funding increased
tenfold and new directives came
down. Then the research shifted.
MARCUS
And no one objected?
DR. CARTER
Some did, but they disappeared from
the project — reassigned. After a
while, we all just kept our heads
down and did the work.
(pause)
I told myself it was just research.
That it would never be used.
MARCUS
Until it was too late?
DR. CARTER
Until my wife and I realized what

The militia leader considers, then signals to his men to
search the truck.
MILITIA LEADER
Let's see what you're carrying.
As they search, Dr. Carter keeps his face down. One militia
member finds a box of medical supplies.
MILITIA MEMBER
Boss, they're telling the truth.
Good stuff here.
MILITIA LEADER
(to Marcus)
Where'd you get military-grade
antibiotics?
MARCUS
Salvage. Abandoned medical convoy
last month.
MILITIA LEADER
Half the meds, and you can pass.
MARCUS
That's robbery.
MILITIA LEADER
That's the toll. Take it or turn
around.
Marcus glances at Dr. Carter, who subtly nods.
MARCUS
Fine. Take what you need and let us

The militia members grab several boxes from the truck.
MILITIA LEADER
Pleasure doing business.
He waves them through. Marcus drives on, tension still high.
DR. CARTER
That was close.
MARCUS
Too close. Let's hope the others

EXT. COALITION MEDICAL FACILITY - DAWN
Elena hurries Millie and a much-improved Tommy toward a

ELENA
Remember, we're refugees heading

MILLIE
What if they ask about Daddy?
ELENA
Your father is meeting us there.
Stick to the story.
They reach a small utility vehicle where the nurse waits.
NURSE
This will get you to the northern
checkpoint. After that, you're on
your own.
ELENA
Thank you. For everything.
NURSE
Just get those kids somewhere safe.
As they climb into the vehicle, ALARM SIRENS blare from the

A massive, decrepit facility near the shore of Lake Superior.
Tyrell and his gang arrive on motorcycles, checking the

TYRELL

Site secure. No sign of military

Lenny and Bullet emerge from the treeline, approaching
cautiously.
LENNY
Any word from the others?
TYRELL
Nothing yet. But communications are
sketchy out here.
LENNY
They should have arrived by now.
TYRELL
(reassuring)
Roads are unpredictable.
Checkpoints pop up randomly. Give
‘em time.
Bullet suddenly BARKS, running toward the southern road.
Lenny follows his gaze to see the utility vehicle
approaching.
LENNY
It's them.
The vehicle pulls up. Elena, Millie, and Tommy climb out.
Millie immediately runs to Bullet, embracing the dog. The
reunion is emotional and warm as Bullet licks her face
enthusiastically.
MILLIE
I missed you so much.
Tommy, still weak, slowly approaches and joins the hug.
Bullet gently nuzzles him, whining softly as if concerned
about his condition.
LENNY
(to Elena)
Any problems?
ELENA
Close call at the facility. The
military patrol arrived early. But
we got out clean.
LENNY
Marcus and the doctor?
ELENA
No word. They were taking the
eastern route.
Worry crosses Lenny's face.
TOMMY
(weakly)
Where's Dad?
LENNY
(kneeling)
He's on his way, buddy. He'll be

Bullet suddenly tenses, facing the east. His hackles rise.
TYRELL
(alarmed)
What's with the dog?
The sound of VEHICLES approaching, engines gunning hard.
ELENA
(grabbing her weapon)
Get the kids inside.
Lenny draws his sidearm.
LENNY
Tyrell, secure the perimeter.
Elena, get the children to safety.
As Elena hurries the children inside, a battered truck bursts
into the clearing, skidding to a halt. Marcus is driving, Dr.
Carter beside him.
DR. CARTER
(jumping out)
Millie! Tommy!
The children run to their father, reuniting with tearful
embraces.
MARCUS
(to Lenny)
Alliance patrol on our tail. Ten
minutes, maybe less.
LENNY
What happened?
MARCUS
Communications blackout. They're
jamming all frequencies.
TYRELL
(urgent)
We need to move. Now.
LENNY
How many vehicles do we have?
TYRELL
Three bikes, the truck, and your
vehicle.
LENNY
Not enough. We need a distraction.
Bullet BARKS, drawing attention to a boat dock behind the
mill. An old CARGO VESSEL sits partially hidden.
MARCUS
Does that still work?
Tyrell bends over and checks the engine.
TYRELL
(checking it)
I think it needs fuel, but the
engine looks functional. We’ll see.
LENNY
New plan. We take the boat and
cross Superior to the Eastern side.

LENNY
They're resilient.
DR. CARTER
Children adapt. Sometimes too well.
(looking at Lenny)
How did you go from street gang to
Alliance lieutenant?
LENNY
A good judge gave me a choice.
Prison or military service.
DR. CARTER
And now you're risking your life to
stop both sides.
LENNY
I joined to make my grandmother

DR. CARTER

LENNY
My contact, Ava Wong. She was
embedded with Alliance forces
during the first border conflicts.
She documented war crimes as well
as civilian casualties that were
being covered up.
DR. CARTER
Can she be trusted?
LENNY
She lost her career for telling the

INT. NEUTRAL GROUND BAR - NIGHT
A dingy establishment filled with a mix of civilians, off-

AVA

AVA

And why bring it to me?
LENNY
Because you're still telling the

She considers this, then slowly lowers her weapon.
AVA
You were that gang kid. The one who
helped me get footage of the
resource riots.
LENNY
Before they kicked you out for

AVA
(to Marcus)
And him?
LENNY
He's with me. We have Dr. James
Carter and his family under Eastern
Alliance protection.
AVA
(surprised)
Carter, the virologist? He's alive?
LENNY
And he has proof that both sides
developed a targeted bioweapon
together. One that could kill
millions based on ethnic
background.
Ava takes a moment to process this information.
AVA
If this is true, it's bigger than
anything I've covered.
LENNY
It's true. But we need your help to
get Carter and his family out. And
to broadcast the evidence to the

AVA
You're talking about bringing down

INT. CENTRAL DATA HUB - NIGHT
A maze of corridors and server rooms. Lenny and Marcus move
purposefully, like they belong.
MARCUS
(quietly)
That was impressive.
LENNY
Military rank still means
something. Even in chaos.
MARCUS
So what's the real plan?
LENNY
We need to get to a primary server
terminal. Break through the
encryption, then transmit the
complete data package to the World
Commission.
MARCUS
And escape without getting caught
or killed?
LENNY
That's the ideal scenario.
They turn a corner, nearly running into a group of SECURITY
PERSONNEL. Lenny nods professionally as they pass. Once
clear:
LENNY (CONT’D)
Technical Section E is two levels
up. That's where the military-grade
terminals are located.
MARCUS
How do you know all this?
LENNY
Alliance intelligence briefings.
They taught us all potential
targets.
MARCUS
And we've just become the threat
they were worried about.
LENNY
Ironic, isn't it?
They reach a secure elevator. Lenny uses his credentials
again, surprisingly still clearing security.

INT. CENTRAL DATA HUB - TECHNICAL SECTION E - NIGHT
They enter a large room filled with advanced computer
terminals. Several TECHNICIANS work at stations.
MARCUS
(whispers)
Now what?
LENNY
Create a distraction. I'll handle
the rest.
Marcus nods, then moves toward a control panel. He discreetly
disconnects a critical wire, causing an alarm to sound.
Emergency lights flash.
SYSTEM VOICE
Alert. System failure in power
distribution. All personnel
evacuate Technical Section E
immediately.
The technicians abandon their stations, moving quickly to
emergency exits. Lenny and Marcus remain behind.
LENNY
(moving to a terminal)
We've got minutes at most.
MARCUS
(taking out the
encryption device)
Let's make them count.
They connect the device to the terminal. Marcus's fingers fly
over the keyboard.
MARCUS (CONT’D)
Defense systems, decryption
protocol... There.
The screen fills with data and code.
MARCUS (CONT’D)
It's working. Breaking the final
encryption layer.
LENNY
How long?
MARCUS
Two minutes. Maybe less.
SOUND of boots in the corridor. Security forces responding.
LENNY
We don't have two minutes.
MARCUS
Almost there.
The POUNDING of boots grows louder. Lenny positions himself
at the door, ready to defend.
MARCUS (CONT’D)
Got it. Encryption broken. Sending
full data package now.
The door bursts open. ALLIANCE SECURITY FORCES storm in,
weapons raised.
SECURITY LEADER
Freeze. Hands where we can see
them.
LENNY
(to Marcus)
Is it sent?
MARCUS
Transmitting. Ten more seconds.
SECURITY LEADER
Step away from the terminal. Now.
Lenny slowly raises his hands, buying time.
LENNY
Just following orders. Like you.
SECURITY LEADER
On the ground. Both of you.
MARCUS
(quietly)
Transmission complete.
The security team moves in to apprehend them. Lenny and
Marcus exchange a look, knowing they've succeeded even as
they're captured.

INT. SAFE HOUSE - UNIVERSITY DISTRICT - NIGHT
Ava has brought Dr. Carter and his children to a hidden
location in the basement of an old academic building. STUDENT
ACTIVISTS provide food and blankets. Bullet stays close to
the children, especially Tommy.
DR. CARTER
(to Ava)
Any word from Lenny?
AVA
Nothing yet.
STUDENT ACTIVIST
The streets are going crazy. People
are demanding answers about the
broadcast.
AVA
(to Dr. Carter)
Your testimony was powerful. Even
incomplete, it's having an effect.
DR. CARTER
If the full data doesn't reach the
Commission, both sides will deny
everything. Call it propaganda.
Tommy sits apart, looking unwell again. Bullet whines softly,
nudging the boy's hand with his nose.
MILLIE
(to her father)
Tommy's hot again.
Dr. Carter rushes to his son, checking his temperature.
DR. CARTER
His fever's back. He needs
medicine.
AVA
We have some basic supplies, but
nothing strong enough.
DR. CARTER
(desperate)
He needs proper antibiotics. His
system is already weakened.
Bullet suddenly stands, trotting to the door. He paws at it,
then looks back at them, whining insistently.
MILLIE
What's he doing?
AVA
I think he wants to go out.
DR. CARTER
He's been trained as a medical
alert dog. He might be trying to
tell us something.
Bullet BARKS once, softly but urgently.
AVA
There's a pharmacy three blocks
from here. But it's risky.
DR. CARTER
I'll go.
AVA
You can't. You're the most wanted
man in the Alliance right now.
Bullet BARKS again, more insistently.
MILLIE
He wants to help Tommy.
DR. CARTER
What are you saying?
MILLIE
When Mom was sick, Dad used to tie
a note to Bullet's collar. He'd
take it to our neighbor who was a
doctor.
Dr. Carter looks at his daughter, then at the dog, an idea
forming.
DR. CARTER
Bullet knows this is serious. He's
trying to help.
AVA

DR. CARTER
Do you have paper?
A student brings paper and pen. Dr. Carter quickly writes a
note listing the medications needed, along with some money.
He attaches it to Bullet's collar.
DR. CARTER (CONT’D)
(to Bullet)
Find help. Medicine for Tommy.
The dog seems to understand, sitting at attention.
MILLIE
Who's going to know what to do?
AVA
(thinking)
There's a resistance medic who runs
the pharmacy. Ex-military. She'll
understand.
DR. CARTER
(to Bullet)
Find the medic. Pharmacy. Help
Tommy.
Ava shows Bullet a map with the pharmacy location marked.
AVA
Can he really do this?
MILLIE
He's the smartest dog ever.

MICHELLE

Walter approaches slowly, extending his hand. Lenny takes it,

MILITARY OFFICIALS, and DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATIVES sit around
a massive circular table.
At one end, Dr. Carter sits with his children beside him.
Tommy looks healthy now, fully recovered. Bullet lies at
their feet, the loyal guardian. Marcus, Elena, and Ava sit
nearby.
Lenny enters, now in formal civilian attire. He takes his
seat at the table.
WORLD COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON
(addressing the assembly)
Today marks a new beginning. The
evidence presented by Dr. James
Carter and Lieutenant Lennard
Williams revealed a conspiracy that
could have resulted in
unprecedented loss of life.
Images and data from the drive appear on large screens around
the chamber.
WORLD COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON (CONT’D)
The World Commission's
investigation confirms that
leadership from both the Western
Alliance and Central Coalition
jointly developed biological
weapons targeting specific ethnic
populations.
Murmurs throughout the assembly.
WORLD COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON (CONT’D)
Those responsible will face trial
for crimes against humanity.
(pause)
But more importantly, we must
ensure such weapons are never
developed again, and that the
divisions that led to this conflict
are healed.
The Chairperson turns to Lenny.
WORLD COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON (CONT’D)
Lieutenant Williams, your courage
in exposing this truth at great
personal risk exemplifies the
highest ideals of service. Not to a
faction or an alliance, but to
humanity itself.
Lenny acknowledges with a modest nod.
WORLD COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON (CONT’D)
Dr. Carter, your family has paid a

these weapons and ensure similar
programs cannot be restarted.
Dr. Carter pulls his children closer to him.
DR. CARTER

WORLD COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON
Today, we begin the process of
reunification. The borders dividing
this country will be gradually

equitably distributed. And the
