INT. PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE - DAY
A 1965 Plymouth Belvedere in turquoise rolls smoothly down a
suburban road. The interior is a matching turquoise.
SUPER: GLADSTONE, OREGON - 1972
ROBERT (V.O.)
The 1965 Plymouth Belvedere had a
bench-style front sea, with a split
feature. The right side and the
driver side could scoot forward and
back, independently.
The driver is FATHER MCKENZIE (52), white undershirt, black
trousers, and a little afternoon stubble.
BOBBY REYNOLDS (7) sits right. Straight, dark chocolate brown
hair, big blue eyes, and a sprinkling of freckles across his
nose. He wears a red striped t-shirt and little blue jeans.
Bobby looks into the back seat where his catch of the day is.
A medium-sized balsawood Name Board: "BOBBY". He smiles.
BOBBY
Thanks again for taking me today.
FATHER MCKENZIE
You're welcome.
On the right, lining the street, are the large-lot single
family homes of the late 50s. On the left is the Willamette
River.
The drive continues.
The silence continues... until.
FATHER MCKENZIE (CONT'D)
How about I pull over up here...
and we can get to know each other a
little more.

INT. SHOWER – STEAM-FILLED - MORNING
ROBERT REYNOLDS (52) scrubs himself down like he’s prepping
for surgery. He exfoliates like there won't be much skin
left.
His eyes closed. His jaw clenched. He washes his face twice.
He rinses his body with the handheld.... and then soaps up
again.
INT. BATHROOM – VANITY
In his crisp white boxer-briefs and crisp white form-fitting
undershirt, he applies moisturizer with his fingertips—quick,
practiced circles.
ROBERT
Five senses, people! Let's count

Touch, Three... Hearing, Four...

INT. CLOSET – WALK-IN – LATER
Built-in mahogany cabinetry. Custom lighting strips embedded

Every hanger is identical. Every piece, immaculate.
Rows and rows of Thomas Pink and Charvet white dress shirts.
Pressed. Stiff-collared. Monogrammed cuffs.
Suits arranged by tone and texture— From Loro Piana cashmere
to Zegna wool, each jacket sheathed in breathable garment
sleeves, tagged with digital NFC inventory pins.
Two full walls of leather shoes on angled shelves: John Lobb.
Berluti. Crockett & Jones. Every pair polished to a low-gloss
mirror.
At center: a motorized tie carousel. A slow, quiet spin
reveals dozens of hand-rolled silks: Hermès. Turnbull &
Asser. Brioni.
Robert looks like an A-List actor. He chooses a deep
Ferragamo red with a muted pattern—bold, but grounded.
He chooses pocket squares—Drake’s and Kiton—neatly folded in
a drawer with brass edge pulls.
A separate tray: Patek Philippe cufflinks. A Montblanc pen. A
platinum Cartier tie bar.
At the far end of the closet: A small, velvet-lined drawer
containing his Rolex Daytona, black dial, platinum case,
always wound.
He places it gently on his right wrist. Not for function. For

Medical kit. He bandages the would.

It takes Robert a minute to come to the surface.

ROBERT
Let's start with easy.
BOBBY
Because I like you... a little.
Robert can't help but smiles.
ROBERT
And hard?
BOBBY
I think because you can't ignore me

ROBERT
What if I'm afraid?
BOBBY
You wanna know what fear does to a
abuse survivor like us?
ROBERT
Abuse survivor. Pfst! Come on.
BOBBY
You don't think what happened

ROBERT
No. It was a little kissing... a
little touching. That's it.
Robert looks at Bobby who's just slowly shaking his head.
ROBERT (CONT'D)
No? It was more?
Bobby nods slowly.
BOBBY
Yeah, buddy. I'm sorry. A lot more.
Bobby reaches at his new bandage.
BOBBY (CONT'D)

Oh, the bandage? I did that last

BOBBY
Thanks, old man.

Robert moves organized boxes to one side and digs deep into

From one of the larger boxes he pulls out a 1' X 3' piece of
flat balsawood with a rope connected as a hanger above.
INT. GUEST ROOM DOOR – NIGHT
Robert stands with a hammer and nail looking at the closed
guest room door, the $1,200 closed, guest room door.
His eyes are fixed on it. The barrier to Bobby. The money,
the prestige, all the fake people.
Robert takes the nail and places it dead center, 6' high.
BAM! BAM!
In a panic, Bobby opens the door
from inside.
BOBBY

Robert smiles.

ROBERT (CONT'D)
No! No. No. Stay right there.
Robert rounds the corner and then steps back into the hallway
revealing the name board from all those years before.
Balsawood.... "Bobby".
Robert hangs it on the new nail. It swings.
When he looks down, Bobby is face down. Crying.
Robert picks him up and opens the door, brings him to the

Elevator doors part like a spaceship airlock.
Robert steps out first, crisp, composed. In control.
Bobby follows—mud still faintly visible on his shoes. Eyes
wide. Arms swinging. Bobby notices the mud.
And hence, Robert notices the mud.
Robert takes out a handkerchief and smiles at Bobby.
ROBERT
(smiling)
Wanna hear the best line ever?
BOBBY
Yeah.
Robert actually rubs the mud off at the same time.
ROBERT
(faking harsh)
I Can't Take You Anywhere....
They both crack up laughing.
They enter a private shopping suite—quiet as a gallery,
bright as a confessional. A trio of stylists in all black
hover near racks of curated luxury.
STYLIST #1
Mr. Reynolds, welcome back.
ROBERT
Thank you. This is my…
(uh oh)
... son.
BOBBY
Aht tuh tuh tuh...
ROBERT
Sorry... he only allows me to
introduce him as ..
(clears throat)
My Seven-Year-Old Self...
The stylists freeze.
And then laugh out loud fake fake fake.
BOBBY
'Son'? Phew... That was close. Nice
recovery.
ROBERT
Just... behave.
Bobby turns in place, surveying the space.
BOBBY
This place smells like dry air...
Bobby notices a MOTHER and TEENAGE BOY walking out. The boy
is wearing a red Tyler the Creator hoodie...
STYLIST #2
We’ve pulled a few essentials from
Brunello, Dries, and Balmain.
Outerwear, some tailored denim...
BOBBY
(excited)
How about one of those...
STYLIST #1
(a little thrown)
Surely—
Robert pulls a deep breath. He gestures Bobby toward a rack.
ROBERT
Go ahead. Pick something you like.
Bobby reaches for a folded pair of ultra-dark Japanese denim.
STYLIST #1
That’s a slim-cut from Onatello—
BOBBY
(interrupting)
What? No. I don't need to spend
$1,200 for On-a-tello jeans when I
can get Wranglers.
Dead silence.
STYLIST #2
They’re... yeah, not quite the
same, little one.
BOBBY
Exactly. Wranglers have balls.
Robert pinches the bridge of his nose.
BOBBY (CONT'D)
Also, these jeans look like they
were angrily ironed by robots.
STYLIST #1
That is… actually the process.
BOBBY
Yeah, well... They need mending.
Robert steps forward, gently guiding Bobby toward a display
table.
ROBERT
Try to be open-minded. You said you
wanted to feel like a normal kid,
right?
BOBBY
Yeah, but I meant... like, pizza
and a dog and a trampoline. Not
tailored roughed-up denim with a
name that sounds like a pasta
shape.
STYLIST #3
(tentatively)
Mr. Reynolds, shall I pull some
graphic tees from our “youth
culture” capsule?
BOBBY
(leans to Robert)
I bet it’s just $400 shirts that
say “Youth Culture” on the front.
Robert almost laughs. Almost.
Bobby picks up a navy hoodie. Looks at it. Frowns.
BOBBY (CONT'D)
This hoodie costs more than mom's
house in Gladstone.
ROBERT
It’s Bergdorf. The doors cost more
than mom's house.
BOBBY
Do they sell juice boxes here? Or
is it just vintage water from 1987?
STYLIST #1
(sincerely)
Would you like a Pellegrino?
BOBBY
(leans close)
Sparkling water is a scam.
Bobby walks to a large full-length mirror. He puts the hoodie
on over his current shirt.
Looks at himself.
The room quiets.
For a split second He doesn’t joke. He just stares. Not in
vanity. Not in sarcasm.
He just steps back.
ROBERT
You look good, half pint.
BOBBY
I look expensive. But yeah... I
look kinda good.... Dickweed.
Robert almost loses it. But keeps it inside.
BOBBY (CONT'D)
Can we get a hot dog after this?
ROBERT
Yes. Sold. Done.
Robert grabs his cell phone for the first time in a day.

Because I'm not alone anymore.
Beat.
BOBBY
You were never alone. It just felt
that way. For me too.
Robert’s breath catches.
BOBBY (CONT'D)
I know waited and waited... for
decades...
Bobby looks at him with pride.
BOBBY (CONT'D)
But you did the hardest thing of
all... You came back to me.
Robert lifts his head and smiles.

INT. CABIN OF THE BOAT – LATER
The cabin is darker than just dim. The moon makes the outside
look lighter.
Robert sits on the cut-in sofa, with Bobby's head in his lap.
Bobby half a sleep in the gentle rock, back and forth, even
at the dock.
ROBERT
This boat...This isn't our escape.
Another grunt.
ROBERT (CONT'D)
This is what not hiding anymore,
looks like.
No grunt.
BOBBY
(cranky)
Uh..
Bobby turns over and falls into a hug with Robert.
Robert rubs his back. Peaceful.
INT. SAILBOAT - MOMENTS LATER
A strong wind kicks up. Unexpected.
Robert immediately turs his eyes to the window. And another
one.
Robert very slowly slides out from under Bobby, sleeping
deeply.
He tucks Bobby in comfortably on the sofa where he lays. And
then buckles him in. Robert goes up top.

EXT. SAILBOAT TOPSIDE - NIGHT
The moon is larger than ever.
There are pieces flying around the deck. Things left loose.
Bobby scrambles to collect as many as he can before they blow
overboard.
The wind picks up again and this time it doesn't let down.
Rain comes. Light at first, and then stronger, and then
strongest. It stings Robert.
Robert moves toward the companionway and the port side rears
up like a bucking stallion.
ROBERT
No!
Robert holds the closest thing he can, the rail.
He sees the companionway, the opening, even a mirror banging
on an inner wall down below, but not Bobby.
ROBERT (CONT'D)
BOBBY!
The stallion again. Down and the up, higher.
ROBERT (CONT'D)
(loud)
NOOOOO!!!!
And then...
BOBBY (V.O.)
(like a whisper)
Let go...
The waves slam against the side, spiling over the sidewalls.
Violence after violence. And the water continues to pour on
Robert.
ROBERT
No.
BOBBY (V.O.)
(whispers)
Let go.
Robert hears Bobby's words.
ROBERT
(emotional)
No. Bobby. Please. No.
BOBBY (V.O.)
(whisper)
Look in the mirror.
Robert remembers. In the companionway. The mirror on the
wall.
Immediately, he looks. He sees it.
Roberts hands come loose from the rail.
MUSIC CUE: "Smaointe" by Enya.
He gets to his feet and takes one step, and then another.
Robert, straight up and down, as if the world around him is
rocking left and right all around him, but doesn't phase him.
Step by step, to the mirror, down into the companionway.
Robert looks to the sofa and Bobby is gone. He can't help but
cry. He lifts the mirror off the hook and raises it to his
eyes.
And there he is.... Bobby.
ROBERT
(smiles)
Hi there.
FADE OUT.
