Analysis Exercise
Silent-Scene Rewrite: Pick one scene every week and rewrite it with no spoken dialogue, no V.O., and no on-the-nose emotional description. Use only action, inserts, gestures, and looks. Then put the original next to it and notice what you had been explaining that the image could have said.
One-Opponent Pass: Rewrite a currently frictionless scene by giving the other character a small, specific want that opposes Thomas's want. Let Thomas fail once before the beat turns. Keep the period tone; the obstacle can be as small as a hesitation, a misunderstanding, or a practical refusal.
Three-Endings Hook: Take the last three scenes that end softly. Write three alternative endings for each: end on an image, end on a line of subtext, end on a physical action. Choose the version that creates the strongest forward pull.
