Analysis Exercise
Exercise 1: 'Silent Rewrite.' Take one scene from the script (e.g., a transitional scene like scene 18 or 26) and rewrite it with no dialogue. Use only visuals, action, and sound to convey the same information and emotional impact. Then compare the two versions.
Exercise 2: 'Dialogue Compression.' Take a scene that was flagged as 'talk-heavy' (e.g., scene 10 or 13) and rewrite it in half the number of lines, preserving the same plot points. Every line must now serve at least two purposes (reveal character, advance conflict, land a joke).
Exercise 3: 'Micro-Conflict Injection.' Take a scene that is 'functional but lacks tension' (e.g., scene 2, 11, or 17) and add a single small conflict: e.g., a character wants to do something the other refuses, or a physical obstacle (a broken radio, a lost key). The conflict must not break the tone but should create a moment of opposition.
